Sorting things out || Maria&Logan

Standing in his door way made Maria more nervous by the second; each second felt like a lifetime and it felt like she had been standing there for hours. Maria fiddled with her hands, not knowing where to place herself as she waiting, she thought in her mind how she thought this afternoon would go, but with each scenario, it ended badly. It probably wouldn’t go as badly as she thought, but Maria had a tendency to be abit over-dramatic. But even she knew that Logan would take control of the situation and wouldn’t let it get out of hand, after all, it was him who arranged to meet, so he must want to sort things out and not argue. Taking a small gulp, she took out her phone, sending Molly a text to tell her she was okay, Maria loved their closeness, but even though Maria was just as bad, she sometimes got frustrated with how worried Molly would get if Maria didn’t keep her updated, but like Maria, that’s how they had both grown up and so they knew no other way, and since their mother had passed away, Maria did her best to take up the mother role for Molly, and was determined that nothing would break that special bond they both have.

After she had knocked on the door, she could hear the soft footsteps, echoing from inside the house and it wasn’t long before Logan had opened the door. As he stood in front of her, Maria couldn’t deny it, this was one of the most uncomfortable and worst moments she had experienced. It was nothing but quiet as they both stood there, staring at each other, and they knew they were both feeling the same. Seeing Logan again was surreal, there was no other word for it. It felt like a dream that she was waiting to be woken up from and she hoped it wouldn’t soon turn into a nightmare. “Hi,” She responded softly, this was definitely unlike Maria to be quiet and anybody could tell it was out of character, she was usually loud and always wanting to be the centre of attention, but at this time, she felt tongue tied and stuck for words.  Listening to him, Maria giggled softly, he was always a gentleman, that was definitely a reminder as to when she first began liking him. His words definitely changed the mood between them, it went from nervous and quiet, to almost normal, his silly character made them both feel more comfortable. “Thank you.” She replied, keeping her tone at a soft manner, although she felt comfortable, she wasn’t ready for things to go back to normal just yet.

Walking into his house was like a vivid flashback, and almost suddenly, she felt like she was back in the first moment she had stepped into his home. Except something was different. As she looked around, she noticed he had cleaned. A small smile grew to her lips, undoubtedly, Logan was always a messy one, and it was unlike him to even go near a duster. “You cleaned.” She stated, as she turned to face him. “That’s.. different.” Maria added, giving him the same small smile before welcoming herself into his living room, as she walked around the couch, she took a seat upon it. Noticing the potato chips on the table, she couldn’t help but smile again, it was obvious that Logan had tried to make her feel comfortable and it was beginning to work. Maria stayed sat on the couch as she waited for him to take a seat by her, she put her hands together, placing them in her lap as she sat up straight, preparing herself.

Hearing her words made Logan feel more comfortable, this he couldn’t deny, but he could still feel the nervousness and awkwardness between them, and that’s exactly what he wanted to avoid, he wanted to make Maria feel as comfortable as he could so they could talk, he didn’t want her to hold back on anything and keep up those grey walls that she would always put up when anybody tried to get close and the only way he could think about doing this was to make her feel as comfortable as he could and be equally as honest. He could tell that she wasn’t at the moment, he soft and quiet welcome was enough to give that away, it was out of character, but Logan decided not to say anything as he knew he’d only make it worse, he just simply reassured her with a smile.

Instantly after hearing her giggle, Logan felt himself get happier. He turned to her quickly with the smile on his face. “That’s fine,” He replied through laughs as he closed the door gently after she had walked in. Hearing her words, Logan couldn’t help but laugh once again. “Yeah,” He replied, looking around his front room. “I’m actually much cleaner now.” He stated, as he walked further into his front room, almost following her as she sat on the couch. “Never thought I’d say that!” Logan said after hearing himself, raising an eyebrow with a small laugh. As she took a seat on his couch, he soon followed, getting comfortable, he ran his mind, trying to think of the right first words he could say, but it seemed the same two kept running through his mind. I’m sorry. Of course, them two words, but he didn’t feel like he could just come right out and say them.

In this moment, Logan was unsure whether Maria had anything to say, or if he was to begin, but decided to anyway. “I’m glad you came.” He stated, not soon after did that song with the title begin playing in his mind. It was no secret that Logan was easily distracted, so quickly, tried to get his mind to a more serious place. Logan shifted his eyes from the ground, back to Maria’s face, which seemed sad. The smile that she had forced onto her face was one that Logan knew too well, he narrowed his eyebrows as he looked at her, the last thing he had ever wanted to cause was upset or pain for Maria, he really did care about her and although he thought he was, he wasn’t doing a good job of showing that at all and hadn’t in the past. “You can.. have a chip,” Logan said, trying to brighten the mood at this moment as he pointed towards the bowl of chips in the middle of the table. “If you want.” He added, trying not to force anything upon her.

Sorting things out || Maria&Logan

callmariamaybe:

It had been exactly a month since Maria had last spoken to Logan, she hadn’t even considered talking to him, mainly because although they ended things nicely, they didn’t exactly talk about what had happened, she was unsure, and it appeared everyone else in Walt Lakes probably thought they were nothing but a fling, when they had never even slept together, despite the rumours. Getting the text from Logan was a surprise, no doubt about it, in her eyes, he had moved on and didn’t even want to be friends with her, but unlike the rest of Maria’s ex boyfriends, he did make an effort to stay in her life. We need to talk. That sentence burned through Maria’s mind as she stared at her phone. Her initial instinct was that she did something wrong. Usually, Maria wouldn’t be afraid nor nervous about texts like this, but when it was from someone she cared about, that was a different case.

It wasn’t until about thirty minutes later that Maria texted back and agreed to meet Logan, now knowing what they were going to talk about, of course she was going to agree, there was alot of unfinished business and no closure between them and they both knew it had to change. Without another thought, Maria reached into her pocket, placing her mobile phone gently inside it then made her way up her narrow stairs. She was nervous, of course she was, she could hear her heart beating, like footsteps as she walked up the steps. Getting to the top floor, Maria walked into her bedroom, opening the door to her closet as she pulled out her jumpsuit. She knew this was the perfect outfit to wear for the occasion; it wasn’t too fancy nor scruffy, and due to the weather, it was just perfect. Quickly, she climbed into it, buttoning it up as she finished. After a few minutes, Maria made her way into her baby sisters room. “Hey, sweetie,” She said softly, it was no secret that Molly is the only thing Maria had a soft spot - along with Logan, now.

Seeing Molly look up, Maria sent her a small smile. “I’m just heading out, don’t wait up.” She said. Noticing the nod of confirmation, Maria headed towards the door, grabbing her phone from her coat pocket before leaving. As she left, she scrolled through her contacts, giving Logan a text so he’d know to expect her arrival soon. “Just left, be there in 5 minutes tops! M xo.” Sending this, she instantly regretted it. Was it too much? Although they agreed to be friends, there was always that sense of awkwardness hanging over them, Maria hoped for this to be gone by the end of today. Quickly, she shook off any sense of doubt and it wasn’t long before she was outside of Logan’s home. Before knocking, Maria took a deep breath, it was no secret that she didn’t like to talk about emotions, or show them, and she had to do both of those things now. Carefully, Maria knocked on Logan’s door as she kept her face straight, waiting for him to answer.

Texting Maria was an easy decision for Logan to make. He figured time would be the best healer for their friendship, but it had been a month and there was nothing but awkwardness between them both. It had got to the point where if her name was mentioned, Logan would feel an instant cloud of guilt hovering over his head; a huge part of the breakup was down to him, then when he left her, he literally left her. He hadn’t made contact until now, and it was no secret that he felt nothing but shame for this. It took him a month, but he finally decided to text her. But, what was the best thing to text her saying? He didn’t want to sway her into thinking there may be another chance between them, nor did he want her to think they’re anything less than friends. “We need to talk.” He knew when she read it, she wouldn’t just agree to it without knowing what it was about. Of course, he should have written more than that, but what else could he have written? He debated adding ‘I miss you’ at the end, but didn’t want to give her the wrong idea.

It’ll be okay, of course it will, it’ll be great for both of us. He kept the words going around in his mind, reassuring himself. He was never the girl expert, he didn’t know how to act in these situations, he had never been in a real relationship before, and he’s not sure he could call his and Maria’s 4 week relationship a real one either. It was great, amazing, there was no doubt about that, but something wasn’t right and that’s not how it should have felt. Logan had been rushing around his house since sending the text, trying to get everything in order and everything clean for Maria’s arrival. He thought to himself, he knew she’d be staying a while, but how should he play it.. Without another thought, he headed into his kitchen, pulling out a bowl. As he placed it on his kitchen top, he looked in his drawer, debating which food to place in the bowl. Of course, Logan had been low on funds so the only choices were popcorn or potato chips, and seeing as they weren’t going to watch a movie, the potato chips seemed the right choice. Opening the packet, Logan carefully poured the remains of the bag inside the bowl and as he finished, he placed the empty bag in the rubbish bin.

It wasn’t long after this that Logan felt his phone vibrating inside his pocket. Feeling it, he quickly reached for it, and noticing the text was from Maria, he opened it. As he read the text, he smiled to himself, she seemed happy, and Logan was happy, even receiving a text from her, it felt somewhat.. normal. Quickly, Logan walked back into the front room, placing the bowl in the middle of the table. Him and everyone else at Walt Lakes knew by now that Maria wasn’t a big fan of food, she was one of those who ate to live, rather than most of the other residents who live to eat, so Logan didn’t think she’d eat them all, so left the bowl just below half empty, just incase she did want some anyway. After a few seconds, Logan heard the few, soft knocks on his front door, and quickly jumped up. As he opened it, he saw the familiar brunette standing, with that signature pout that he knew too well. What was the right thing to say right now? Honestly, Logan was stuck for words as he bit his lower lip. “Hey,” He said, casually, then tried to smile softly towards her. After a few seconds of standing there, Logan quickly realised he hadn’t been the most welcoming. “Oh, god, sorry,” He said, squinting his eyes together as he moved to the side. “Come in!” He spoke, quickly, as he welcomed her into his home.
